At Barnes Wallis Academy, we are committed to providing a world class education for all of our students, academically and pastorally.

We set high standards and expectations for our students and staff, demonstrated by our “Personal best, no excuses” philosophy. We believe in rigorously and consistently enforcing traditional basic standards of uniform, presentation and respect. This, in turn, ensures we create a positive climate for learning in which every student can reach their full potential. Our Academy is a calm, orderly and purposeful environment where students enjoy their learning, make good progress and feel safe. 

We aim to give our students unrivalled opportunities and expect them to be fully involved in our Academy life and community, delivering their best in lessons and taking part in the extra-curricular opportunities we offer.  Our curriculum is unashamedly academic and students are encouraged to do their best at all times.

We are relentless in our pursuit of excellence and our curricular and support teams are determined to deliver the highest quality teaching and learning experience where the needs of all our pupils are effectively met.  Our pastoral support is outstanding and is a key feature of our caring, community ethos, where we encourage our students to develop into well-rounded young adults who are prepared for life beyond the Academy.

Students and staff see a lot of the senior leadership team during the Academy day. We spend a great deal of time around the Academy, visiting lessons and supporting staff to ensure that expectations are being met and the quality of teaching and learning is consistently high.
