COVID-19 Partial Closure Update

Dear Parent/ Carer,

RE: COVID 19 Update – Partial Closure

In order to maintain sufficient staffing levels, following the Government advice on self-isolation, I have reluctantly had to take the decision that Barnes Wallis Academy will be closed to students in Years 9 and 10 tomorrow. 

The Academy will remain open for students in Years 7, 8 and 11.  Where parents/ carers of children in those year groups who are not in school, but work in the healthcare or similar sectors, are struggling for childcare, please get in touch with us at the Academy.  Work will be set on Google Classroom for students, and they have all been shown how to access this from home. 

The safety and wellbeing of our children, staff and local community is our number one priority at this time, and we will update regularly via our website and through the MCAS app.  We appreciate this is an unsettling time for everyone, and we thank you for your support.

I will be in touch regarding the plans for closure next week once the Government has released clear definitions of key workers and vulnerable students.
