Uniform

We believe that wearing the academy uniform creates an identity and ensures all students know they belong to our community, it also ensures a smart and consistent appearance.  All students are expected to wear their uniform correctly and with pride whilst on academy premises and also on the journey to and from the academy. 

All students are expected to wear the school uniform and we expect our students to be neat, clean and smartly dressed. Hair should be a suitable, neat style. Extremes of hairstyles or hair colour, as decided by the academy, are not acceptable. All clothing should be CLEARLY MARKED with the owner’s name                        

 

Boys' School Uniform 

  • Black blazer with blue trim and academy crest
  • Black V neck sweater with academy crest (optional)
  • Traditional black school trousers (not jeans or tight fitting)
  • White buttoned school shirt with collar (long or short sleeved)
  • House tie
  • Black socks
  • Black traditional, polishable school shoes (not trainers)
  • Rucksack with academy crest
  • Waterproof coat (optional)

 

Girls' School Uniform

  • Black blazer with blue trim and academy crest
  • Black V neck sweater with academy crest (optional)
  • Traditional black school trousers (not jeans or tight fitting trousers of any kind)
  • Black knee length pleated skirt (official BWA style - available from Uniform Direct)
  • White buttoned school shirt with collar (long or short sleeved)
  • House tie
  • Plain black tights or black socks (not over the knee)
  • Black traditional, polishable school shoes (not boots, sandals, high heels or trainers)
  • Rucksack with academy crest
  • Waterproof coat (optional)

 

Boys' PE Kit

  • White/blue polo shirt with crest
  • Long sleeved blue rugby top with crest
  • Black shorts
  • Blue socks
  • Traditional sports trainers with non-marking soles (no fashion trainers i.e. 'converse')

 

Girls' PE Kit

  • White/blue polo shirt with crest
  • Long sleeved black sweatshirt with crest
  • Black shorts
  • Blue socks
  • Traditional sports trainers with non-marking soles (no fashion trainers i.e. converse)

Jewellery

  • One small, flat ring is permitted to be worn
  • One pair of earrings are permitted in the ear lobe, small plain studs only
  • No piercings are permitted including eyebrow, nose, tongue, cartilage, lip-studs or rings
  • No other jewellery of any kind may be worn at the academy.  Ear stretchers are not permitted
  • No nail varnish is permitted at the academy
  • Minimal make-up permitted, provided it is subtle and discreet

 

Mobile phones and iPods

Mobiles phones and iPods may not be used at the academy during the school day, at any time. Failure to adhere to this will mean the items will be confiscated and placed in Student Services for the rest of the day. The academy is not responsible for the damage and loss. Students are not permitted to being speakers into the academy.

 

Equipment

All students are expected to bring the following everyday:

  • A school bag, suitable to carry all school books and equipment.
  • A pencil case containing; two black pens, pencil, rubber, ruler and colouring pencils.
  • A basic calculator is also desirable

Chewing gum, aerosols and energy drinks are not permitted.
