This section of the website should give you a flavour of life in our Academy. As well as being able to keep up with the match reports in the sports section and developments in each house, you can read about other important factual information, such as uniform.
At Barnes Wallis we have a strong leadership team, ensuring that every student receives all the support that they need to achieve.
As soon as a student starts with us at the Academy, they are allocated into one of our houses. The houses offer students additional support in settling in and developing friendships.
As part of the David Ross Education Trust, our academy is able to offer great learning experiences outside of regular lessons. Students recently took part in the Summer Cup at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre with a whole host of top athletes, including Dame Kelly Holmes.
Students are consulted on any important changes to Academy life. We pride ourselves on the great mutual relationship between staff and students.

Careers Education continues throughout a student's school life at Barnes Wallis. All the important aspects of Careers Education are covered within our Citizenship, Personal, Health and Social Education programme, including teaching about various careers, giving details about job applications and interview techniques and the opportunity to experience the world of work for a week in Year 10.
Our extensive, up to date Careers Library is well used by students. It has a wide range of resources including books, leaflets, and computerised career databases. All students have an interview with, and receive guidance from our careers team.
At Barnes Wallis Academy our Young Carers group has been running for the last three years and during this time we have enjoyed lots of exciting activities both in and outside school.
We receive training from the Lincolnshire LIVES, which gives us basic first aid skills and much more.
Being awarded the Young Carers Friendly Award by Lincolnshire Healthy Schools has been a great achievement for us.
Our Young Carers have the benefit of being able to have someone to talk to when they need to, and feel safe and secure within our school.
Our Academy has a great awareness of Young Carers, we meet every week and use this time to train, discuss and support each other.
Our students are not judged, they are understood and respected for their additional responsibilities. Find out more about our young carers here.
